Northern Cities

Northern Israel can be characterized by the mountains of the northern Galilee, the burial grounds of our forefathers and great rabbis. It is an area rich in history and tradition and culture, from the gentle city of Haifa, to the artistic and somewhat eccentric Safed.
Northern Israel is the city of Kiryat Shemona and the many villages of the Galilee. It is a land of beauty, of forests, and a major tourist attraction for the thousands who chose to visit Tiberias and travel onward to the waterfalls and streams in the Golan Heights.

In the summer of 2006, Israel’s northern cities came under fire from Hizbollah rockets. For more than a month, as the IDF battled, northern residents spent days in bomb shelters or fled south to visit with family and friends. Damage was extensive in the cities and in the green areas that surrounded Israel’s beautiful northern areas.

When the war was over, residents returned with a determination to rebuild, replant, and rejuvenate.
