Southern Israel can be characterized by the desert beauty of Beersheva, the crystal clear blue waters off the city of Eilat, and the port cities of Ashdod and Askhelon. The desert is all-encompassing at times. Beautiful, barren, and yet teeming with life. There’s a beauty to it that most westerners don’t expect to see. It is not what we knew as beautiful…no rolling green mountains and flowing rivers, but it takes only a moment to see that the desert of Israel offers its own beauty.
The Negev
It is an area rich in history, as it was a major travel route in ancient times and remains a vibrant channel for many Israeli products to the world. The heat of the desert is only matched by the warmth of the people of southern Israel, who welcome their northern brethren in the colder months with bright and sunny skies and almost unmatched views.
